Hanging On

Superman: Ride of Steel. Six Flags New England. Awesome.

Thirty Days until I fly up, up, and away to Afrika ya Mashariki. Between now and then is a whole lot of twisted track.
Somehow the semester is nearly over. Classes ended yesterday and I'm just twenty pages and one exam away from closing the books on year one at YDS. Somehow this all feels somewhat anti-climactic. Where is the big 'summer is nearly here' rush of adrenaline and excitement?
Once I crest the hill on May 10th and turn in my Swahili Exam, it is going to be a non-stop rush to KLM Flight 644 to Amsterdam and beyond. There will be the busy-ness of lining up Visas, Shots, New Contacts, and Packing, plus the excitement of seeing family and friends in the Midwest and daydreaming about a summer spent abroad. Like any good ride, it is the anticipation that is most intimidating. I imagine once I get going it'll be one thrill after the next.
Time to get strapped down and to hold on tight because the next couple weeks are going to be wicked awesome and fly right on by.
