PETER HARRITS (HE/HIM)
A Preacher, Teacher, and Program Director by trade, Peter considers himself to be an artist at heart - one who seeks to uncover and create beauty, goodness, and truth in the world and in all that he does.

Born and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Peter's worldview has been shaped by the witness of communities of faith around the world and sharpened during his studies at Hamline University and Yale Divinity School. Bridging cultures and empowering others to more faithfully accompany their global and local neighbors is central to his sense of vocation. Along the way, he has served congregations in suburban Minnesota and inner-city Connecticut as a Youth Minister and a congregation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as an Intern Pastor.

Ordained in 2011, Peter's has spent a decade in specialized ministry and global service. From 2011-2013, he was the Country Coordinator for the ELCA's Young Adults in Global Mission program in Malaysian Borneo. Currently Peter serves as the Director of Bega Kwa Bega and an Assistant to the Bishop of the Saint Paul Area Synod. In that role, he oversees a network of relationships that links thousands of individuals, hundreds of communities of faith, and a handful of development organizations in Minnesota and Tanzania.

In June 2019, Peter became a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory. He now assists individuals and organizations on their journeys to greater intercultural competence.

Peter and his wife, Jenny, live in Saint Paul, Minnesota with their two daughters and two dogs. Together they are learning to build a life that they love.

Living is a form of not being sure,
not knowing what next or how.
The moment you know how,
you begin to die a little.
The artist never entirely knows.
We guess. We may be wrong,
but we take leap after leap in the dark.

ABOUT THE BLOG
The views expressed here are entirely my own. Snapshots in time, they reflect where I was at any given moment - the spectacles before me and my view of things then and there... Nothing more and nothing less.

With stories and posts that go back to 2006, it records a life lived - stumbles and missteps and all. I hope it demonstrates growth over time as well. As a public rendering of a private, idiosyncratic, and perfectly imperfect journey, a measure of grace is much appreciated by those who opt to read it and follow along.
