The Boats Docked at Port in Exotic Zanzibar
(I read that one is always obligated to link the words Exotic & Zanzibar)

The House of Wonders, harborside in Stone Town

A Zanzibar Door in, you guessed it, Exotic Zanzibar!

The streets of Stone Town, not unlike the streets of Old Town Mombasa, except bigger, grander, and much more exotic.

Plus, there are lots of locals whipping through the maze of alleys (another requisite descriptive phrase) on Scooters. It makes exploring more fun when death comes whizzing by every corner.

Though it doesn't make the guide books, 'Jaws Corner' is what I'd call the heart of Stone Town. Away from the hustle of the tourist zone, locals gather here in the evening to chat, drink coffee, and play dominoes. Very cool.

A cup of coffee at Jaws Corner makes an excellent appetizer for the daily feast at the Night Market in Forodhani Gardens

While Stone Town may be the center of life in Zanzibar, the beach (and Paje Beach in particular) is where to go for some starehe time. A perfect spot to listen to the waves, chill out on the omnipresent concrete baraza, and doze off staring at the palms overhead. Absolute Bliss.
