Ingenuity
The wheels are cut from old pairs sandals. They are held together by discarded pens or sticks straight enough to be an axel.
The chassis is built from scrap wood - apparently part of a larger structure that burned. The second car, attached by rubber strips cut from old innertubes, comes complete with a measuring tape tow rope and scrap metal bed.
The frayed yellow string, with a twist of the control rod, provides turn-on-a dime precision. This is a competetive necessity as boys race their garis up and down the village streets.
Simply Amazing.
And I thought my Lego creations were cool. . .
More pics from life in the villages of Pommern and Tungamalenga are now posted in the photo album to the right.
