Memories: Turkey Day '03

Super Grover vs. Harold the Fireman.
[The Stupid Muppet Won in Terms of TV Airtime]

For all of the random adventures and errant journeys I've undertaken, being a balloon handler in the 2003 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade still ranks high on the list of 'I Can't Believe I Did That' moments.

Ah the memories . . .

Bright & Bleary Eyed for the 5am Costume Call. My attractive Jumpsuit really brings out the red in my eyes.

So, you don't think anything could be creepier than a hotel lobby full of fuzzy characters at 6am?

Then try picturing dozens of buses overflowing with clowns plying the streets of Midtown Manhattan. Then picture yourself -in red and yellow jumpsuit- on one of those clown infested buses . . . floppy shoes . . . rainbow hair . . . painted on smiles . . . I still have the occasional nightmare

Harold's Faithful Flight Team. It takes a lot of people to keep a giant, gas filled fireman under control but we did well, thanks in no small part to our 'Pilot' clad in white.

First time to New York . . . First time in Times Square . . . First Time on Broadway . . . & I come marching down the middle of the street.

Walking in on Charlie Brown getting deflated at the end of the parade was kind of awkward.

Then again, being encouraged to 'Sneak a Peak at Santa' by this friendly yet man-ish elf was awkward in its own right.

Gotta Love Kicking Off the Holidays in the Big City, eh?
